COSHOCTON, Ohio (Sept. 1, 2026) — The 55th Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival, a Roscoe Village Foundation event, has been named an America 250-Ohio Featured Event, part of “Ohio Grows: Food & Farms,” America 250-Ohio’s designated theme for October 2026 celebrating agriculture’s role in the state’s history and economy.
The three-day festival returns Oct. 16–18 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm located on the streets of Historic Roscoe Village, Coshocton, Ohio. The town’s roots reach back nearly two centuries: after the Ohio & Erie Canal arrived in 1830, Roscoe grew into the fourth-largest wheat port on the 308-mile canal system, with mills, warehouses and a canal port connecting local farmers to markets beyond the region — the same agricultural backbone the festival still celebrates 55 years later.
“The America 250-Ohio celebration gives us an opportunity to tell both parts of Roscoe’s story,” said Sharon Bucey, Executive-in-Residence, Historic Roscoe Village Foundation. “There is the 55-year history of Apple Butter Stirrin’, but behind it is a much older agricultural history — farmers, mills and the canal were all part of Roscoe’s development, and Food & Farms month gives us a chance to bring those stories together.”
Apple Butter Stirrin’ centers on apple butter made over open fires throughout the weekend, alongside selected crafters and food vendors, heritage demonstrations, historic interpreters, blacksmithing, a kids’ area, horse-drawn canal boat rides and live music throughout the restored canal town. Musical acts perform all three days, with Whirlybirds & Friends headlining on Saturday afternoon. Other festival draws include chainsaw carving by artist David Crego and an appearance by Forged in Fire alum Adlai Stein, with additional performers and programming to be announced.
New for 2026 is the Apple Butter VIP, a $45-per-day ticket that offers reserved seating and additional amenities, including a dedicated space in the Town Hall, drinks, food, and parking. General admission remains $10 per day, with children under 12 free.
100% of ticket sales support the festival and the preservation and educational components of Historic Roscoe Village.
